Same, same, but different

These are more than 10 years old pictures from Amsterdam. Sometimes it’s nice to go back in time to see old stuff you made. And perhaps redo them?

In April of 2015 some 45 swedes went to Amsterdam to make street photography photos. I was at that time fairly new at this (since less than 3 years back), even if I’ve been taking photos with an SLR camera since I was a teenager.

The things is – you learn as you go along. And I’ve learned a lot. About my cameras, about composition, about editing and much more. So when I found a new way to do my postproduction this year, it’s only natural that I want to test it on older pics. So, some of these I’ve showed before, some not at all. But they’re all edited in a (for me) newer way. And they are all in black and white, even if I make a lot of colour photos these days.

“Slumming” in Stockholm

Once upon a time, Södermalm (or Söder) was considered the slummy part of town. An island of its own, today more an attractive part of the Swedish capital. And I’ve lived there for a short time, many years ago. So, why not do a weekend there?

I also had a couple of more reasons. Two friends had Opening Day of their street exhibitions at two different galleries, and the Gothenburg Street Photography Association also held a smaller photowalk.

I’ve been experimenting with a new Lightroom present, made by myself with inspiration från social media. And, again, all these wonderful meetings with strangers on the street. Couldn’t have turned out into a lovelier couple of days. First a few of my colour photos:

And then, a few black’n’whites…

People, faces, portraits

Quite often as I walk the streets, I feel like portraying people. Here is a selection of street portraits, from 2014 up until now. First brand new ones…

The older ones. Eleven years of portraits, dating from 2014 to 2024
