I have a good friend, that’s been doing this a lot longer than I. And he’s good at it too:
“To me street photography is a social thing, trying to get into the flow. I like to move in and out of the stream of people and to be part of it. You’ll probably see (when you get on with this) that your first 10.000 images are your least good. Because it’s about practicing and training your eyes into seeing images that tell a story. A perfect day, you should be pleased to have at least ONE (1) really good pictures per shooting occasion.”

My own best advice
Eyes. I always look for eyes and looks. Where they see, what they see, how they see and why the see. Something about eyes makes your images magic. I quite often just wait to get that look straight into my lens. That’s when I “click”.

Gatufoto är en subjektiv konstform

Daniels tankar om gatufoto
Gatufoto är för mig något väldigt socialt, och handlar om hitta ett flow. Att röra sig i harmoni med folkmassan och smälta in. När du börjar med gatufoto kommer du snart upptäcka att dina 10.000 första bilder kommer att vara dina sämsta. Allt handlar om att träna ögat till att upptäcka bilder. Om du gör allt perfekt skall du vara nöjd om du kommer hem med en bra bild per fototillfälle.

Gunnars bästa råd
Ögon. I allt jag gör (vad gäller gatufotografi) letar jag ögon. Vart tittar de, vad ser de, hur ser människor på eller efter varandra. Det är någonting med ögonen som gör bilderna spännande. Och väldigt, väldigt ofta vill jag att människor ser rakt in i min kamera. Det är då jag som fotograf “klickar”.
