In a flash
Now you’re really getting started, this far into this course. Time now to introduce a kind of photography that even the most advanced street photographer sometimes forgoes – flash photography. Camera in one hand, flash in the other and you’re ready to create some really dramatic photos by controlling the light.
What you need
Apart from your own camera, an external flash and a cable between the both for more flexibility.
Why flash?
Working with a flash you on one hand (!) control the lighting and on the other you get at really special feeling in the image. Flash is perfect for 10 feet distance from the person you shoot. And remember: You only have one shot, then you’re discovered and the chance of surprise is gone.
Challenge (for you who dare): Shoot with a flash. Use Zone focusing (see bit 12) and get some quick and wondrous street portraits.

Dags att blixtra till
Nu börjar du bli varm i kläderna, om du följt uppdragen i kursen. Dags att introducera den del av gatufoto, som även de mest luttrade gatufotografer skyr – blixtfoto. Med kameran i ena handen och blixt i den andra, skapar du effektfulla gatufoton där du själv styr ljuset i bilden.
Vad behövs?
Förutom kamera behöver du en extern blixt, samt en kabel mellan kamera och blixt för att bli mer flexibel.
Varför blixt?
Med blixtens kontrollerar du ljuset, samtidigt som du får en väldigt speciell känsla i bilden. Blixt fungerar bäst inom 3 meter från personen du fotograferar. Tänk på att du bara har ett försök på dig att ta bilden. Sedan är du upptäckt och bilden borta.
Uppdrag (för dig som vågar): Fotografera med blixt. Använd dig av zonfokus (se kursbit 12) och ta några snabba gatufotoporträtt.
