Imagination out of the ordinary
Always hearing from people that one is better than the other. I just question if maybe not both have a place?
Talking about color or black and white. Nowadays people have very set opinions on either or. I really think most pictures have a meaning, even if the possible interested audience might vary.
Here a simple example on a pic where I’d hate have to choose just one and then pitch the other.
Walked about in Chicago a bit, mostly looking forward and down (from the Loop), but occasionally I also looked up as the Windy city has many dimensions of interest and one is “high”.
There was this hotel, that had put pillows and cushions in the windows and in one of them…
To a street photographer of today, one thing stand out – the smartphone. Wherever I look, someone’s looking down into a cell phone.
There’s both pros and cons with this, First, people look down a lot and for me – always looking for eyes an eye contact – it’s boring and frustrating. Second, the blueish light from the screen help light people faces. And most don’t see me right away (I might have the time to take more than 1-2 pics).
Here are three very typical examples, all from Gothenburg:
Yes. Me too. I also think that this is quite an ordinary pic.
But something about the lines in the bridge, the colors and the backdrop fascinates me. Even if I really don’t know why.

I’ve now added a page with some of my pics from Chicago last November. Visited my family in Indianapolis for Thanksgiving and took some time to drive and meet a friend of mine there. Click here for the gallery.
Right there, at Millennium Park in Chicago, people live it up; walking, meeting, skating. And, off course, stopping to memorize the moment too.
Just one single day. That’s what I spent downtown Chicago. But I can feel the love – kinda like a good blues song.
If there’s an outlet, you can talk forever – even if it means you have to sit on the floor. Right?
Had en really nice day with my friend Mats Alfredsson in Chicago – the town he’s been taking street photography in for seven years and the town I’v been passing by for more than 30 years, but never spent time in.
He showed me the fairly small “Loop” with surroundings. So many “stages” for Street photography – lines, lights and layers combining in all different kind of ways. Here’s just on example, that I’ve toyed a bit with. Mats is doing a lot of black and white – I’m quite happy as some of my color shots turned out really well.
Maybe I’m a fool, maybe I was just enchanted. But I gave him a five dollar bill – after receiving a CD I still haven’t listened to. But I meet him just as I left the parking and came onto Millennium Park in Chicago. Magical day, it was. And maybe worth that bill?
