Attending a half time, full year of photography school. At Sörängen, Nässjö, Sweden. The namn of my education is Fotografi distans – Projekt. Meaning It’s about photography in general, but at the same time on pursuing a photo project.
The full year is both looking at other photographers work and doing different tasks. And here I’ll show some of the result of the tasks we-ve been asked to do.
The self portrait. The instruction: “Create your own self-portrait. The self-portrait can be seen as an examination of your own identity, but that doesn’t mean that you have to show your “real self”. A self-portrait is always a staging, where the image carries both conscious and unconscious constructions of your own self and the role of the artist. Perhaps it can be seen as a parallel to how many people today present a picture of themselves on social media? There we can construct our life and our identity as we wish to appear. But wouldn’t it be nice to have a contrast to the daily flow on Instagram? To dare to show reality?
So first, I took a reference picture, with my cell phone. Then I staged the scene, using tripod and the available light. Short depth of field and my clown attribute. Took many pics, the final one is the what I submitted
